Academic Visitors

The Faculty of Education at Cambridge welcomes applications from potential study visitors who have a plan of work in mind which
a) would clearly benefit from being located within the Faculty, attached to one of the Academic Groups
b) would clearly offer benefits to the host acadmic and academic group in terms of sharing expertise, working collaboratively on projects of mutual interest, etc.

Applications are made an the offical form, supported by c.v. and letters of recommended where appropriate (e.g. a doctoral candidate), to the Head of Faculty and Director of Research, and must be supported by the host academic/academic group. Applications must be made well in advance.

Official Academic Visitors are provided desk space and access to computing and library resources in the Faculty, and are welcome to join in the Faculty seminar programme. (A modest bench fee is payable to cover the costs of accommodating the visitor.)

Potential visitors should note that decisions on applications may take some months, and that visa applications can not usually be made until a formal decisions is notified. Any visitor intending to carry out work in schools and colleges should note that (a) government guidelines require individuals likely to be left alone with children or young people to obtain clearance through a background check and so should plan schedules to allow for the time needed to process such an application; (b) although schools in the UK often welcome researchers and other visitors, they have authority to individually grant or refuse requests from researchers. (There is no system whereby government or local authorities require schools to cooperate with approved projects.)
