Lectures take place in MR3 on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, from 11am until noon. The first lecture takes place on Friday 6th October and the last will be on Friday 1st December.
***There will be no lecture on Wednesday 25th October. To make up the time, the last lecture will take place on Friday 1st December***
A description of the course, including topics to be covered, prerequisites, and further reading, may be found here:
Information on preparing yourself for this course may be found in the Algebra section of the Part III Preparation Resources. Pay particular attention to the "Basic Algebra" section of this page.
Exercise Sheets and Examples Classes
There will be four exercise sheets, which will be posted on this page on (or close to) Monday 9th October, Monday 23rd October, Monday 6th November, and Monday 20th November. Each exercise sheet will cover approximately two weeks' worth of material; note that this means that you may not be able to complete all of the questions on a given exercise sheet until some time after it is released.
I will also run four examples classes; one for each exercise sheet. They will take place in MR4 at 2pm on:
- Friday 27th October (exercise sheet 1)
- Friday 10th November (exercise sheet 2)
- Friday 24th November (exercise sheet 3)
- Friday 19th January (exercise sheet 4)
Final Exam and Revision Class
The final exam for this course will take place in the Easter term; the date is yet to be announced. The exam will be 3 hours long. A copy of the rubric that will appear on the front page of the exam paper may be downloaded below.
I will arrange a revision class for this course in the early part of the Easter term. Details will be posted here when they are finalised.
